The "choin d'Hauteville", worked for marbled stone, is an outcropping in the form of a deep and massive layer of compact spathic limestone, oolitic or fragmented, rich in microfauna (foraminifera).
These formations, belonging to the Valanginian period, comprise a subhorizontal overhang forming a syncline level at the base.
At the surface these same formations are affected by karstic or lapiaz contouring and are known here as "cornelles". |
